PARKS, RECREATION AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION Minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 23, 2013 <br /> <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The Regular Meeting of the Parks, Recreation & Human Services Commission was called to order <br />by Chair Brazo at 6:05 p.m. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />Chair, Leah Brazo; and Commissioners, Bill McMillan, Sylvia San Filippo, and Steve Shatynski. <br />Vice Chair, Wil Shaw, arrived after the meeting had been called to order. <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT <br /> <br />Chris Emeterio, Community Services Director; Sean L. Matlock, Community Services Manager; <br />Carrie Hernandez, Senior Management Analyst; Nicole Andrews, Community Services Supervisor; <br />Cesar Pacheco, Community Services Supervisor; Eric R. Nicoll, Community Development <br />Director; David M. Crabtree, Deputy Community Development Director/City Planner; Chris <br />Beckman, Parks Supervisor; and City Attorney, James L. Markman of the law firm of Richards, <br />Watson & Gershon. <br /> <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br /> <br />Chair Brazo <br /> <br />INVOCATION <br /> <br />Chair Brazo <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />Chair Brazo announced that because of scheduling conflicts, Action Item XII-A, Commission <br />Recommendation Regarding Acceptance of Park Fees for Proposed Madrona Project will be taken out <br />of order, immediately following the Student Advisory Board’s report. <br /> <br />Providing Commissioners with a brief background of her history with the Community Services <br />Department for the City of Brea, Sean L. Matlock introduced Nicole Andrews, recently promoted to <br />Community Services Supervisor responsible for overseeing the facility and operations at the Brea <br />Community Center as well as facility rentals and contract classes. Ms. Andrews expressed her pleasure <br />at her appointment and her enthusiasm for the City of Brea and its residents. <br /> <br />Chair Brazo called Commissioners’ attention to an article in the OC Register highlighting The Tracks at <br />Brea and quoting Commissioner McMillan. <br /> <br />Commissioner McMillan commended Community Services Supervisor Pacheco for the Prescription <br />Drug Abuse series recently offered through the Brea Family Resource Center. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />Date: 06-04-13 <br /> <br />Item No.: 21 <br />447
