City of Brea <br />COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />Agenda Item: 8 <br />Date: June 19, 2012 <br />To: Mayor and City Council <br />From: City Manager <br />Subject: PUBLIC HEARING AND ADOPTION OF FISCAL YEAR 2012 -13 <br />OPERATING BUDGET <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Receive public input on the Fiscal Year 2012 -13 Operating Budget, as presented in the <br />2012 -13 Proposed Budget document; and adopt the 2012 -13 Operating Budget. <br />BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION <br />The City Council has reviewed and given direction on all components which are <br />included in the proposed Fiscal Year 2012 -13 Operating Budget at the Budget <br />Workshop on May 15, 2012. The Proposed Fiscal Year 2012 -13 budget document <br />contains an overview message from the City Manager, summary schedules, the fund <br />balances of each operating fund, a comprehensive review of revenues, and expenditure <br />breakdowns by department. <br />BUDGET RECAP <br />The Fiscal Year 2012 -13 Proposed Budget adheres to City Council policy. The General <br />Fund budget is balanced, revenues exceed expenditures, and the General Fund <br />reserves exceed the minimum 8 — 10 %. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Expenditures for all Funds which make up the Fiscal Year 2012 -13 Operating Budget <br />total $86,663,492. <br />10 <br />
