1 <br />2 <br />ORDINANCE 209 <br />3 ORDINANCE GRANTING TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA <br />EDISON COi'iPAT,dY, ITS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, <br />4 A FRANCHISE TO CONSTRUCT AND USE, FOR TRANS- <br />Ia- TTING AND DISTRIBUTING ELECTRICITY TO THE <br />5 PUBLIC FOR ANY AND ALL PURPOSES, POLES, WIRES, <br />CONDUITS AND APPURTENANCES, INCLUDING CONT,VN1- <br />6 CATION CIRCUITS I'•;ECESSARY OR PROPER THEREFOR <br />IN ALONG, ACRD'S UPON AND UNDER THE PUBLIC <br />7 STAEETS, WAYS, ALLEYS AND PLACES - ITHIN THE <br />CITY OF BREA. <br />8 <br />9 <br />The City Council of the City of Brea does ordain as <br />10 <br />follows: <br />11 I <br />Section 1. dJhenever in this ordinance the words or <br />12 <br />phrases he <br />reinafter in this section defined are used, they <br />13 <br />shall have <br />the respective meanings assigned to them in the <br />14 <br />following <br />definitions (unless, in the given instance, the con- <br />15 <br />text where <br />in they are used shall clearly import a different <br />16, <br />meaning): <br />17 <br />! <br />shall mean the corporation <br />(a) The word "grantee" <br />18 <br />to which the franchise contemplated in this ordinance <br />19 <br />is granted and its lawful successors or assigns; <br />20 <br />(b) The word "City" shall mean the City of Brea, <br />21 <br />a municipal corporation of the State of California, <br />22 <br />in its present incorporated form or in any later <br />23 <br />reorganized, consolidated, enlarged or re-incorpora- <br />24 1 <br />ted form; <br />25 1~f <br />(c) The word "Streets'"' shall mean the public streets, <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />29 <br />30 <br />31 <br />32 <br />ways, alleys and places as the same now or may here- <br />after exist within said City; <br />(d) The phrase "poles, wires, conduits and appurten- <br />ancesil shall mean poles, towers, supports, wires, <br />conductors, cables, guys, stubs, platforms, cross- <br />arms, braces, transformers, insulators, conduits, <br />
